A3 is the size of two A4 pages side by side, which makes it the natural sheet for A4 booklets and double-page spreads. It is also used for drawings, charts, diagrams and small posters, and some office printers can print it.

A3 belongs to the ISO 216 A series. Every A size has the same proportions (1 : √2, about 1.414), so folding or cutting a sheet across its long side gives the next size down with the same shape. Its area is 0.1247 square metres.
